  • Josephine - b. abt 1859 - death date unknown.  She is listed on the 1860 Richmond County GA Census as a 1 year old girl in the home of Dock Blackstone and Effy Ellis.

  • William Zephaniah, "Will"Feb. 28, 1866 - Jan. 28, 1945, On January 30'th, 1945, William Z's Obituary lists one surviving brother as being L.N.  Click here to see William Z.'s death certificate.
  • Alfred "Alf"abt 1869 - July 14, 1954, Either he was not William Z's brother or the obituary did not mention him.  He may have had a different mother.  According to James Otto Blackstone Sr., Alf was a policeman in Atlanta.
  • Martha "Mattie":  December 05, 1870 - September 12, 1907, (Click here to see Mattie's Obituary): 
  • John LouisAccording to James Otto Blackstone Sr., John Louis was James Coleman's youngest brother.  John Louis' son, John L., was raised by Will Blackstone (William Z.?)  A J.L. Blackstone's signature is on William Z's death certificate as the "informant".
  • Lewis Napoleon Sr. "L.N.":  Sep. 2, 1878 - Sep.15, 1948.  Either he was not William Z's brother or the obituary did not mention him.  Lewis' death certificate shows that Zephaniah Blackstone was his father, but he may have had a different mother than several of the other siblings.  Lewis's mother's name was listed on his death certificate as Nancy Vehethaline (Behethelan?) who was born in S.C.

  • Dock Blackstone is listed on the death certificate of James Coleman Blackstone as James Coleman's father and Phleffein Ellis is listed as James Coleman's mother. Either Dock or his father was a gunsmith for the Cherokee Indians.
  • According to the 1880 census, this family lived lived on Dugas Street in Augusta, GA. 
  • Zepheniah & Kitty's marriage license can be found at the Richmond County Courthouse. This is listed in the book Marriage Licenses 1863-1864 of Richmond County, GA on page 91. Thomas Brandon was the Justice of the Peace.
  • Dock Blackstone's name comes from the death certificate of James Coleman Blackstone. He is listed as James Coleman's father and Phleffein Ellis is listed as James Coleman's mother. Either Dock or his father was a gunsmith for the Cherokee Indians.
  • Dock is listed as "Dock" in the GA Census in 1860 in Richmond County. 1 child, Josephine is listed in the census data. Dock lived in the 124'th district. The census was taken on the 9'th day of Oct., 1860, and showed that he was 20 at the time of the census.
  • According to the 1880 census, this family lived lived on Dugas Street in Augusta, GA.
